Background: Breast cancer is the second most common malignancy in women
throughout the world. Several etiological factors can cause anemia in breast cancer
patients. Anemia is a common complication in breast cancer patients undergoing
chemotherapy, affecting the patient's health status and quality of life. The aim of

this study was to determine the prevalence of anemia in breast cancer patients non-
metastatic undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy.Methods: In this cross-sectional

study, 144 women with non-metastatic breast cancer who were referred to the
radiotherapy and orycology department of Imam Reza Hospital and met the
inclusion criteria were included. Data were obtained from patient document
archives and analyzed with SPSS software (versit6).Results: In this study, 41% of
patients experienced anemia before chemotherapy and 43.1% of patients

experienced anemia during and after treatment.The prevalence of post-
chemotherapy anemia was significantly higher in advanced cancer stages (P=0.01).

The possibility of anemia is greater in patients undergoing 8 cycles and the
AC+paclitaxel regimen, compared with 6 cycles and other regimens. There is no
significant relationship between the prevalence of anemia and the type of
chemotherapy regimen, number of chemotherapy cycles, positive lymph nodes,
comorbidities, menstrual status, and body mass index (BMI). Conclusion: Due to
the high prevalence of anemia due to chemotherapy and its impact on quality of
life, anemia Even mild degrees must be detected and evaluated before treatment.
Remembering that early intervention is very important, especially in the elderly.
