Students' Resilience in Handling
Assignments: A Case Study in A Higher Education. Faculty of Teacher Training
and Education, Universitas Katolik Santo Agustinus Hippo.
Assignments are undoubtedly an inseparable part of being a student. The
difficulty level of assignments increases as the level increases. This has the potential
to make lectures boring and stressful for students. To cope with this, students need
resilience in themselves. Resilience is a very important quality for upper semester
students to have in order to complete coursework on time. Students who have
resilience be better able to handle stress in everyday life. Resilience is a dynamic
process in which individuals demonstrate positive adaptability despite experiencing
significant trauma or adversity. This research aims to find out the resilience of
students in handling assignments and strategies carried out in completing assignments
and building this resilience.
The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data collection in
this study used questionnaires and interviews. The research was conducted with
English Education students of class 21A and 21B. Data analysis in this study by (1)
Data collection,(2) Data reduction,(3) Data presentation, and (4) Conclusion. The
results of this study indicate that students persist in completing tasks because of the
resilience they have, the various strategies they carry out in order to complete tasks,
and the internal and external factors that support students in completing tasks.
