Catholic University of Santo Agustinus Hippo. Reading ability is an ability that is
very necessary because it is an initial ability of students that greatly affects skills.
If reading ability is not strong, then other skills will also be difficult to manage.
The main objective of the research is to explain students' reading abilities in
understanding narrative text. This research used a qualitative descriptive method.
The sample for this study consisted of 10 students from class X3 at a State Senior
High School 02 Ngabang. The results showed that the students' ability was above
average (62) with a percentage of 62% which means Sufficient. Students with a
good category level can achieve all reading ability indicators. Students with a
sufficient. category level are able to moderately achieve the reading ability
indicators. Students with a less category level have not been able to understand
the reading ability indicators.
