An Analysis of Figures of Speech in the Lyrics of the Song

This research describes the figures of speech found in the lyrics of the
song "Bad Liar" on the Imagine Dragon 4 Origins album. The aim of this
research is to identify, classify and analyze the types and types of figures of
speech found in the lyrics of the song "Bad Liar" by Imagine Dragon Album 4
Origins. The data source in this research was obtained by listening carefully to
the song "Bad Liar" from Imagine Dragon Album 4 Origins by searching for the
lyrics on the internet from YouTube and Google sites. Data were analyzed using
Masruchin's theory. This research uses qualitative research with the aim of
descriptive data analysis.
The methods used are literature study and free engagement speaking
techniques as well as note-taking techniques. Based on the research results, it can
be concluded that in the fourteen lyrics of the song "Bad Liar" on the Imagine
Dragon 4 Origins album, several types of figure of speech are used, namely 1.)
Comparative figure of speech 2.) Contradiction figure of speech, 3.) Confirmation
figure of speech. Of the three figures of speech, the figure of speech that
dominates the most is the figure of speech for confirmation with a total of 8 types
of figure of speech, the figure of speech for comparison there are 4 types, and the
figure of speech for contradiction. There are 2 types. The song is entitled "Bad
Liar".
Suggestions to other researchers who are interested in conducting further
research can be to develop the results of this research again on the lyrics of the
song "Bad Liar" Imagine Dragons Album 4 Origins.
