Vocabulary is an important element in learning English, but considering the&#13;
ability that each student has is different, of course, the ability of students to master&#13;
English vocabulary is also certainly different. Behind that, English teachers have&#13;
an important role in improving students' abilities. In improving students' abilities,&#13;
there are challenges faced by English teachers. This study aims to find out the&#13;
perceptions of English teachers regarding the challenges faced in improving&#13;
students' ability to master English vocabulary.&#13;
This research uses qualitative method with case study research type. This&#13;
research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Jelimpo. The subject in this study was&#13;
one English teacher. Data collection instruments in this study used interviews,&#13;
observation, and documentation. Data analysis used data reduction, data display,&#13;
and conclusion drawing and verification.&#13;
The results showed that there were three aspects of difficulties faced by&#13;
English teachers: Diffucult in selecting vocabulary to be taught, difficult to&#13;
present or introduce new words, and difficult to review students' vocabulary.&#13;
The researcher suggestion for future researchers is that future researchers&#13;
should focus more on the strategies used by teachers to overcome difficulties in&#13;
teaching vocabulary. In addition, future researchers can also involve more&#13;
participants in the study.</note>
