The use of smartphones in schools supports learning, such as the use of google&#13;
translate in English language studies. The use of google translate causes students to be&#13;
lazy to bring and open English dictionary books and prefer smartphones to access&#13;
google translate and not remember and learn vocabulary translated using google&#13;
translate. This study aims to determine students' perceptions about the use of google&#13;
translate in vocabulary development at SMAN 1 Mempawah Hulu. This research uses&#13;
qualitative research with the sample of class XII IIS B 2024/2024 SMAN 1 Mempawah&#13;
Hulu. The instruments used were observation, questionnaire, interview, and&#13;
documentation. Data analysis technique used Miles &amp; Huberman data analysis model.&#13;
This study outlines three aspects of student perceptions in vocabulary&#13;
development, namely: Personality aspects where students use google translate in doing&#13;
assignments and translating words and sentences. The motivational aspect of google&#13;
translate plays a role in increasing student motivation. And the experience aspect,&#13;
students feel that their vocabulary increases after using google translate and the&#13;
obstacles faced by students in using google translate. Based on this study, researchers&#13;
need to remember the importance of using technology wisely so that learning objectives&#13;
can be achieved well.</note>
