Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka (PMM) aims to enhance students'&#13;
adaptability, cooperation, and competence through intercultural learning&#13;
experiences. This study aimed to identify and analyze the motivational factors that&#13;
encouraged PMM students to choose the teaching profession. It also aimed to&#13;
compare the motivations of PMM students with those who did not participate in the&#13;
program, to understand the extent to which the PMM program influenced students'&#13;
interest in teaching.&#13;
This qualitative study was conducted at Universitas Katolik Santo&#13;
Agustinus Hippo, involving 13 students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and&#13;
Education (FKIP) who participated in the PMM program. Data were collected&#13;
through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's data&#13;
analysis technique, which included data reduction, data display, and conclusion&#13;
drawing.&#13;
The findings indicated that internal factors played a dominant role in&#13;
motivating PMM students to become teachers. These factors included personal&#13;
satisfaction, interest in specific fields, positive experiences with education,&#13;
enjoyment in teaching, and the desire to share knowledge. External factors such as&#13;
family support, educational programs, and societal views on the teaching profession&#13;
also significantly influenced students' decisions. The PMM program positively&#13;
impacted students' motivation by providing experiential learning opportunities,&#13;
fostering cross-cultural understanding, and enhancing social and leadership skills.&#13;
PMM students demonstrated strong internal and external motivations to pursue&#13;
teaching, driven by personal fulfillment, supportive environments, and positive&#13;
societal impact.</note>
