 <note>An Analysis of Students' Motivation&#13;
in Speaking English at SMK Negeri 1 Sengah Temila. Faculty of Teacher&#13;
Training and Education, Santo Augustinus Hippo Catholic University .&#13;
Motivation is a very important and influential factor in the learning process. The&#13;
purpose of this study is to determine the level of student motivation in speaking&#13;
English, and find out the factors that influence student motivation in speaking&#13;
English.&#13;
This research uses a mixed method design by combining two forms of research,&#13;
namely qualitative and quantitative. The sample used are 15 female students&#13;
consisting of 15. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The techniques&#13;
used in data collection are questionnaires, observations and interviews. Data&#13;
analysis in this study where quantitative data is initially analyzed, followed by&#13;
qualitative data analysis.&#13;
The results showed that the level of instrinsic motivation of high students had an&#13;
average of (4.4), the dominant students had intrinsic motivation from indicators of&#13;
self-desire, satisfaction, and challenge / competition. While the extrinsic factors of&#13;
moderate students have an average of (3.3), the dominant students have extrinsic&#13;
motivation from indicators of praise, advice, parents, teachers and the environment.&#13;
The factor that most influences students is intrinsic motivation while the factor that&#13;
least influences students is extrinsic motivation.&#13;
By having intrinsic motivation, students will achieve success such as being able to&#13;
speak English well, being able to pronounce English vocabulary and having a large&#13;
vocabulary.</note>
