<note>Student Learning Styles In Learning
English In The Merdeka Curriculum. Supervisor: Dr. Monika Widyastuti
Surtikani, M.Pd. Thesis. Landak Regency. Faculty of Teacher Training and
Education. Universitas Katolik Santo Agustinus Hippo.
In the English learning process, the independent curriculum encourages
students to participate more actively and learn according to students' learning
interests. Every student has a different way of learning which is usually known as
a learning style. The learning styles that will be discussed are classified into three,
namely: Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic. This research aims to describe
students' learning styles in learning English in the independent curriculum at SD
Negeri 02 Sidas and to describe the types of learning styles most often used by
students in learning English.
This research uses qualitative methods. The sample consisted of 33
students at SD Negeri 02 Sidas. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling.
The instruments used in this research were questionnaires and interviews. The
data analysis used is data reduction, data display and conclusions.
Adopting Kolb's theory, the research results show the following (1) The
learning style of students learning English at SD Negeri 02 Sidas is Visual with an
agreement category of 70%, Auditory with an agreement category of 85%, and
Kinesthetic with a category of 70%. These results are also strengthened by
interviews conducted by 6 students. (2) The learning style most often used is
auditory with 38%. The results of this research show that students have different
learning styles and the learning style that is often used is auditory.</note>
