An Error Analysis of Countable and Uncountable Noun in Sentences Written by the 9th Graders of SMPN 1 Ngabang. Supervisor: Kunto Nurcahyoko, M.A., M.Pd. Thesis. Landak Regency. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Katolik Santo Agustinus Hippo. Writing is communication in written form to convey opinions or ideas. Writing is just like language skills that can be learned. Although it can be learned, writing skills include language skills that are quite difficult to learn by students at every school level. For example, in the English class at SMP N 1 Ngabang when delivering material about Countable noun and Uncountable noun, some students did not understand what the teacher said. This research aims to find out the types of mistakes students make when writing countable and uncountable nouns in sentences. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were students of class 9E SMPN 1 Ngabang, totalling 37 students. Researcher used instruments: Observation and written test. To analyse the data, researchers used data reduction techniques. From the results of the study, the researcher found 50 total errors made by students in writing Countable and Uncountable nouns, from 4 types of errors only 3 errors were made by class 9E students, namely: Addition of 6 errors, addition is the presence of certain unnecessary items in a sentence or utterance. Omission as many as 37 errors, omission is the absence of a necessary item in a sentence. Substitution as many as 7 errors, substitution is the use of the wrong word form in a sentence or utterance. There is 1 type of error that is not found, namely Permutation.
