Difficulties experienced by PBI 2020 A EFL students in increasing vocabulary&#13;
and strategies used by PBI 2020 A EFL students to improve vocabulary mastery. The&#13;
purpose of this research is to find out the difficulties faced by EFL 2020 A students at&#13;
Santo Agustinus Hippo Catholic University in mastering vocabulary and the learning&#13;
strategies of EFL students at Santo Agustinus Hippo Catholic University in improving&#13;
vocabulary mastery.&#13;
This research uses a descriptive method, qualitative research, where the data&#13;
collection process uses questionnaires and interviews, however in analyzing the data the&#13;
researcher uses a few calculations, which are quantitative processes such as percentages,&#13;
numbers and diagrams. The subjects of this research were PBI 2020 A class students&#13;
with a focus of 15 students. In this research, researchers used two techniques to collect&#13;
data, namely questionnaires and interviews. Researchers also use the triangulation&#13;
method to obtain the validity and reliability of the research.&#13;
The research results showed that four respondents experienced difficulty in&#13;
memorizing vocabulary, such as spelling, pronunciation, grammar and meaning. The&#13;
strategies they use are cognitive strategies and memory strategies. It is recommended&#13;
that students reveal more methods in mastering vocabulary to help future researchers.</note>
