Movies are a convenient and fun learning medium featuring beautiful and
moving images with sound effects and movies are created to convey moral
messages or moral values that are useful for life. This research aims to describe the
moral values and find out the dominant moral values used in the movie Turning
Red by Domee Shi. This research is descriptive qualitative, where this research is
conducted by analyzing the screenplay, and movie dialogue. The writer found moral
values based on Hornby's theory, namely one moral value of thankfulness, nine
moral values of love and affection, two moral values of sincerity, one moral value
sympathetic to others, two moral values of honesty, one moral value of
courage/Bravery, four values of cooperativeness. And based on Linda and Eyer's
theory, the writer found one value of being, namely courage/bravery, while the
value of giving consists of one value of respect, one value of unselfishness and
sensitivity, one value of peace loyalty and dependability, and two values of
kindness and hospitality. And it can be concluded that the dominant moral values
of love and affection are found in the movie Turning Red by Domee Shi.
