<note>The Illocutionary act learns about the utterance performed with some kind of
purpose in mind. The purpose of this research is to find out the roles and types of
illocutionary acts in Prilly Latuconsina's speech. The data in this analysis were
analyzed by Searle and Leech, respectively, applying the theories of illocutionary
roles and illocutionary types. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to
analyze the data. The research instrument used in this research is the researcher.
The researcher uses expert judgment to ensure the validity of the data obtained
from the analysis. The research steps carried out were in accordance with the data
analysis according to Miles. There are only 3 illocutionary roles in this study
competitive, convivial, and collaborative. There are 11 competitive utterances,
namely 3 asking and 8 demanding. Convivial 2 utterances: 1 offering and 1
thanking. Collaborative is the most common illocutionary act in this group. In
addition, 35 data which contain types of illocutionary acts are assertive, directive,
commissive, and expressive, are displayed as the results of this study. Prilly
Latuconsina's most frequent utterances in her speech were assertive, seen in 27
utterances. Directive 3 utterances; the commissive found in the speech are 3
utterances and 2 expressive utterances. In Prilly Latuconsina's speech, declarative
is not used because action involves certain circumstances. The role of
illocutionary acts in Prilly Latuconsina's speech is indifferent to the social. While
the type of illocutionary act in Prilly Latuconsina's speech is stating, this involves
the speaker‘s truth about the proposition expressed.</note>
