70 hlm.: Ilus.: 28 cm This research is conducted in order to analyze the main character in the novel "You've Reached Sam" By Dustin Thao and to find out the characterization in the novel "You've Reached Sam" By Dustin Thao. The method used by researcher is qualitative. Data collection is carried out using the technique of simak libat cakap and note-taking technique. To analyze the characterization of the main character, the researcher used content analysis with Roberts Edgar's theory. In order to valid ate the data, the researcher used source triangulation, technique triangulation, and time triangulation. The results of the research show that the characterization of the two main characters are: 1) the first character is Sam: honest,romantic, patient, caring, and creative; 2) the second character is Julie: diligent, kind, pessimist, cheerful, patient, helpful, grateful, loving, heartbroken, wise, creative, and humble, never give up, introvert, selfish, and stubborn. Then, the message we can take from the main character Julie is that she tries hard to overcome life's problems, let her lover go, start writing again and continue her dream school. The message we can take from Sam is that even though he has lived with a different nature, he always encourages and becomes a motivator for his girlfriend Julie.
